The Reds have been monitoring the versatile German U-21 youngster for some time, and now it seems Rodgers has got his man.
The 20-year-old has established himself as one of the top performers in the Bundesliga 2013-14 campaign, scored three goals and three assists in 29 games.
The report claims that Liverpool triggered a £9.75m release clause in Can’s contract, and the switch to Anfield is now expected to be done within the next week.
It is understood that Rodgers is keen to rebuild his squad early this summer, as the Premier League runners-up have already signed Rickie Lambert for £4million from Southampton and they are likely to acquire the services of England midfielder Adam Lallana in the coming weeks.
