Barcelona eye up move for Man United target Mats Hummels
Barcelona are reportedly planning to step up pursuit for Germany’s World Cup star Mats Hummels, according to Daily Star.
Manchester United could face stiff competition from the Catalan club for the signature of Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels this transfer window.
The 25-year-old centre-back, who has had enjoyed a wonderful World Cup campaign this summer, has established himself as a key player in the Bundesliga last term, and the recent reports have suggested that tow of the biggest clubs in world football – Manchester United and Barcelona are interested for his signature this summer.
However Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp is keen to retain the services of Germany international, but if Dortmund receives a tempted bid then one of the interested club will be rewarded with a top class player.
It is understood the La Liga giants Barcelona are desperately looking for a new defensive recruits to Camp Nou, where the ex-Bayern Munich man is seen as the ideal replacement after the departure of Carlos Puyol.
Hummels had joined Borussia Dortmund in 2009 from Bayern Munich and is currently under contract until the summer of 2017, has won two Bundesliga titles, one German cup, and played in the Champions League final in 2013.
The transfer of Mats Hummels are quite slim, with his contract extension until 2017. The probability that he will leave the Dortmund is less than 50%, because there has been no advanced negotiations yet between both clubs.
