There German international’s current deal at the Westfalenstadion is valid till 30 June 2016, and last week – he has been linked with a move to the Premier League club Manchester United with Louis van Gaal reportedly interested in signing the 24-year-old this summer.
If Dortmund opt not to sell Gundogan, then he will be free to sign a pre-contract with any football club in January next year, the same case with their former striker Robert Lewandowski who signed a pre-contract with Bayern Munich last season.
However, It remains to be seen if Dortmund will sell him this summer or keep the midfielder for yet another year.
