Pirlo, 36, who joined the Italian champions in 2011, was expected to remain with the Old Lady until his current contract at Turin expires in 12 months’ time.
The report has suggested that the Italian midfielder was seen in New York during a match between the Yankees and Tigers at Yankee Stadium — also the home of NYCFC, speculation is rife that he could now be ready to call time on his career in Serie A football with a move to newly promoted Major League Soccer club NYCFC will be sealed by this Friday.
Pirlo has guided Juve to a domestic double last season, but his campaign concluded on a low note as Barcelona won the Champions League final.
He posted on Twitter: ‘Rest, holidays and sport!’.
