Tottenham want Real Madrid’s Mateo Kovacic?

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly planning a summer move for Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic, who joined the Spanish outfit from Inter Milan last summer.

The Croatia international joined the Los Blancos from the Italian outfit Inter Milan in a deal worth around €29 million last summer but has struggled to get into the first team at the Bernabeu, having made just seven league starts in all season.

Kovacic’s lack of playing time has alerted a number of European clubs including Spurs, according to Spanish publication AS.

Both clubs have done successful business in recent years, with Luka Modric and Gareth Bale joined the Spanish capital from White Hart Lane.

However, the report also claim that the North Londoners will face competition for the 21-year-old playmaker from Madrid’s rivals Sevilla.

Spurs set to be in the Champions League next season, and Kovacic’s skills seems well-suited to Mauricio Pochettino’s plan at White Hart Lane.
