The unofficial Euro 2016 song titled Gonna Win the Euros
Euro 2016 officially kicks off at the Stade de France tonight for a month of incredible competition, but for us, the game will really begin when England take on Russia in Marseille tomorrow (June 10).
Usually, we’d be blessed with an official song for the England team to heighten our excitement, but this year we’ve had no confirmation. Comedian David Baddiel recently told BBC News that he thinks Three Lions killed off the football anthem, but we think he spoke too soon!
Student band 1966 (we like what they did there!) have released their own unofficial Euro 2016 song titled Gonna Win the Euros, and it couldn’t be a better tribute to our team.
The students from the School of Communication Arts got together to write the song, record it and film a video on a £19.66 budget in just 24 hours. Impressive stuff!
Inspired by football classics like Vindaloo, this song has been made available for download on iTunes and Spotify. All proceeds will be donated to the Nordoff Robbins charity, which helps change the lives of vulnerable people by using music therapy.
If you want to follow the action and see how the song does, use the hashtag #GonnaWinTheEuros on social media.
