The Portuguese boss let Mata to leave the Stamford Bridge outfit two years ago before branding him a ‘luxury player’. and now the potential arrival of Dortmund’s Henrikh Mkhitaryan seems that Mata will be on the move once again.
The 28-year-old is thought to be attracting interest from a number of Premier League clubs but the Goodison Park’s outfit remain optimistic about securing the player’s services this summer due to his relationship with the Toffees’ new boss Ronald Koeman.
The pair worked together during the spell at Valencia which won the 2008 Copa Del Rey title.
It is understood that Everton have a £100 million transfer budget in the hope of Champions League football.
