Newcastle United join race to sign Declan Rice

Newcastle United have reportedly joined the race to sign West Ham United star Declan Rice.

The England international is predicted to depart the London Stadium before the start of the 2023-24 season. He has generated interest from several top clubs, including Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal, and Liverpool, as the midfielder enters the final year and a half of his contract with the Hammers.

According to Football Insider, the Magpies are also a contender for Rice’s signature and plans to make a bid if they secure a spot in the Champions League for next season.

Eddie Howe’s side recently achieved a significant financial boost with their takeover and currently rank third in the Premier League, ahead of Tottenham Hotspur in fifth place by three points.

West Ham United are reportedly open to selling their captain this summer if they receive a bid of more than £80 million.

Since his debut in 2017, the 24-year-old has made 221 appearances for the club, scoring 11 goals and providing 13 assists.

In the current season, Rice has played in 26 matches across all competitions and contributed one goal and three assists.
