Arsenal’s Thomas Vermaelen to Join Manchester United?
Manchester United are plotting to step up their interest in Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen, who has just a year left on his contract with the Gunners, according to Sky Sports.
The Red Devils are desperately looking to strengthen their defensive squad following the exit of star players – Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand.
The Belgian international, who has already stated that he is unaware if his future lies at the Emirates next season or elsewhere.
The 28-year-old centre back joined Arsenal from Ajax in 2009 on a four-year contract, has scored 15 goals and provided 6 assists in 150 appearances over the past five seasons.
Arsenal captain Vermaelen is on £70,000-a-week at Emirates but United are willing to pay him somewhere in the region of £100,000-a-week to convince him to make the switch to Old Trafford.
