Brendan Rodgers dismisses Balotelli bid
The Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has insisted he will not be signing AC Milan striker Mario Balotelli during this summer transfer window.
There had been speculation last week that Rodgers is keen on the Italian striker and willing to bring the 23-year-old to Anfield to replace Luis Suarez, who joined Barcelona earlier this summer.
However, Rodgers insisted that he is not interested in signing the former Manchester city star, he told The Mirror: “I was asked the question about Balotelli and spoke about what a talent he is and excellent player he is.
“I can categorically tell you that he will not be at Liverpool. He is a wonderful player, but an AC Milan player. I just gave my opinion of him, but that doesn’t mean I will be signing him.”
The Northern Irishman has admitted he is still looking for a new ranks in order to bolstert heir squad ahead of next season and the rumours continues to be linked with the Sevilla star Alberto Moreno and Atletico Madrid defender Javier Manquillo.
“We still have a few bits and pieces we would like to do to solidify the group, but there’s no names or definite signings yet,” he added.
Rodgers has already used the £75 million funds, he received for Suarez from Barcelona to secured the signings of Lambert, Origi, Emre Can, Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren and Lazar Markovic.
