The Blues have never faced either Sporting Lisbon of Portugal or Slovenian champions Maribor but they did play against the German side Schalke last year. Undoubtedly, Chelsea will be comfortable favourites to top in Group G.
Here’s the best reaction from Chelsea fans to the draw:
Have Chelsea ever had a tough group draw? The Champions League is kind to the Blues.

Liverpool, City & Arsenal will probably get through but they’ll have to field their strongest XI & we won’t – advantage Chelsea?

Struggling to recall last time Chelsea had a tough Champions League group. Should breeze through group with Schalke, Sporting and Maribor

Tough draw, again, for Manchester City. Good one for Liverpool and Arsenal. Easy one for Chelsea. #ChampionsLeague

I wonder if Chelsea will ever see a testing Champions League group in my life time

Good draw for the English. Chelsea should be happy, Liverpool thrilled, City tense, Arsenal confident.

I still reckon each of the four English teams will qualify. Although perhaps only Chelsea finishing top.

Another Champions League draw, another good group for Chelsea, another second place finish for Arsenal, another group of death for City…

First ever trip to Maribor in Slovenia rounds off Chelsea’s draw. Likely to be a much demand for the 13,000 seats at their Ljudski vrt home.

Chelsea got a fantastically easy group. Great news for Mourinho as they’ll be able to carefully focus on the Premier League title race.
