Everton target Stoke striker Kenwyne Jones

Recent reports in The Guardian suggest, Everton are interested in signing of Stoke City striker Kenwyne Jones.

Roberto Martinez

The Trinidad and Tobago international joined The Potters in 2010 from Sunderland on a four-year-deal and has only six months left on his current contract; it is inevitable that the striker could be available in this January transfer window or the summer.

The 29-year-old was not present for Sunday’s league action against Liverpool due to personal reasons, and has been fined for two weeks’ wages. It shows the possibility that Jones wants to leave Mark Hughes side.

The report claims, Everton are willing to pay £1 million for Jones. However the Staffordshire club wants closer to £3 million.

Everton boss Roberto Martinez wants back-up option for Romelu Lukaku, who is serving his loan period and will return to Chelsea at the season’s end.
