Hayley McQueen becomes Ambassador of Football Foundation
Former Boro TV journalist, McQueen has started to successfully raise awareness for The Football Foundation, after recently becoming its ambassador. The Football Foundation is the UK’s largest sports charity, developing better grassroots sport facilities using money from the Premier League, The FA and the government, via Sport England.
As an ambassador, McQueen will not only be raising awareness for the cause but will also be getting involved in its projects. Hayley is available for public appearances, brand opportunities and endorsements through the London based celebrity talent agency.
When asked about her new endeavours, the Sky Sports presenter stated: “I’m delighted to become an Ambassador for the Football Foundation. It does such an important job in helping schools and clubs to provide safe and comfortable places for more people to play sport.
I know how playing football and other sports can help people, especially youngsters, build their self-esteem, stay healthy and learn valuable life skills, like team-work and good communication.” she added.
“I also know from my experience at Middlesbrough FC and Manchester United the fantastic work that professional football clubs’ Foundations and Trusts do for local communities.
“I love the way the Football Foundation looks to encourage that great work at the sites it develops where appropriate.”
Daughter of Boro’s former European scout Gordon McQueen, Hayley has worked in football for the past 12 years both behind and in front of the camera. Her work includes anchoring live programmes from the Premier League, FA Cup, Europa League, League Cup and Champions League and being the launch presenter for Sportswomen on Sky Sports, a weekly show dedicated to women in sport.
Rory Carroll, head of communications at the Football Foundation, expressed a warm welcome to McQueen adding; “We are thrilled to welcome Hayley on board as a Football Foundation Ambassador. She is such a popular figure and a brilliant communicator. Having someone with her profile and her passion for the game is invaluable for a charity like us.”
Hayley is currently lead anchor on Sky Sports News and presenter of Sky Sports Champions League, and, in addition to her work as a TV sports presenter and reporter, McQueen is also an RTS award winning producer.
McQueen was born in Manchester, England, living in Scotland and Hong Kong before settling in Hutton Rudby in North Yorkshire in 1994. Her impressive academic accomplishments include a BA Hons degree in PR and Journalism, specialising in Broadcast Journalism, and further studies in Media Law.
She then began her television career working as a runner and production assistant for Richard and Judy before joining Middlesbrough’s Boro TV channel as a reporter and producer. After her success as a reporter for Boro TV she was headhunted by Sky Sports News where she eventually became a presenter.
McQueen’s significant achievements in the sports media world include, presenting on Fox Sports, main match anchor on MUTV (where she also presented and produced the news, daily talk and match day live build up and phone-in shows as well as conducting regular interviews with players past and present) and hosted the Daily World Cup show for Al Jazeera Sports with Scott Minto in 2010.
Aside from being a sports media presenter, McQueen has put her degree to good use as a journalist, as a key contributor to twentyfour7 Football magazine bringing exclusive interviews with the likes of Sir Alex Ferguson, Roberto Martinez, Steven Gerrard, Paul and Tom Ince, amongst others.
Hayley McQueen is a talented professional with many years as a successful media personality. Alongside her many ventures, she is also a dedicated motivational and after dinner speaker.
