LVG wants Rio Ferdinand back at Old Trafford

As per the reports from The Daily Express, Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has expressed his desire that he wants defender Rio Ferdinand back at Old Trafford in a coaching role.

The report has also suggested that United’s assistant manager Ryan Giggs happy with the idea and would welcome Ferdinand’s return to the 20-times English champions.

The 36-year-old former centre-back, who left the Red Devils last summer, has joined Queens Park Rangers – but the Dutch manager wants him back at Old Trafford for the coming season, with a focus on youth development.

Ferdinand’s role would be working with the first-team, using his extensive Premier League experience to help Van Gaal’s squad.

Manchester United are currently sit fourth in the Premier League table, as they look to return Champions League football.
