The Spaniard is one of the most highly-rated goalie employed in the English Premier League, having won the 2010 World Cup and European Championships with Spain, as well as multiple La Liga titles with his former boyhood club Barcelona.
His potential move to struggling Newcastle could only be materialised when the next transfer window opens in January, as the player is currently under contract at Old Trafford until the end of the season.
Fellow Premier League giants Chelsea and Liverpool have also been linked with the former Barcelona player, but the report has suggested that Louis Van Gaal is unwilling to let the stopper to join a direct rival.
