Newcastle United leading the race for Ibrahim Maza

Newcastle United are emerging as favourites to sign Ibrahim Maza, an 18-year-old German-born Algerian international, according to Caught Offside. The Hertha BSC prodigy is drawing attention from several Premier League clubs, including West Ham United, Southampton, and Leicester City.

Who is Ibrahim Maza?

Maza began his career at Reinickendorfer Fuchse before joining Hertha BSC’s academy in 2016. Making his senior debut in April 2023, the versatile attacker has tallied over 1,000 minutes, with four goals and two assists in 13 appearances. Born in Berlin, Maza initially represented Germany at youth levels but opted for Algeria to fast-track his international career.

A Premier League Move?

Newcastle are eyeing Maza as a long-term attacking option amid uncertainty over Miguel Almiron and Callum Wilson’s futures. West Ham, too, see Maza as a potential successor to Lucas Paquetá if sanctions affect the Brazilian midfielder. Hertha BSC reportedly values Maza at €20 million but could accept offers near €13 million.

With competition from Nottingham Forest, Brentford, and others, the Magpies face a fierce battle for one of Europe’s most promising young talents.
