Premier League Preview 14th Week
The Premier League is well underway now and at game 14 of the season there are a few shocks on the card. From Leicester City leading the way, to Chelsea 15th in the table. This weekend will have a lot to offer with a lot of big games happening all around the country.
Leicester vs Manchester United weekend preview
Possibly the biggest game of the weekend sees top of the table, Leicester, welcome second place Manchester United to the King Power Stadium in a 17:30 kick off. This game could prove vital for both teams in this year’s Premier League. Many people are saying that Leicester cannot keep this incredible form going, this could be a match to change their minds. If they can manage to get one over Manchester United, they could possibly be in with a shout of European football next season, but there is a long time to go.
A man that will have a huge part in this is England international Jamie Vardy, as it stands he is equal with Ruud Van Nistelrooy for the most goals in consecutive games, one more in this game will set a new record. Manchester United will go to Leicester wanting to spoil the party.
A win for the Red Devils will take them top of the table and looking strong. The good thing for manager Louis Van Gaal is that he has star strikers Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martiel back and fit. With these two players back in the team it will give Manchester United a very good chance to get something out of the game.
However, it will be tough to beat and confident and well in form Leicester side. It will be a very close game with not many goals to separate the two sides.
Manchester City vs Southampton match preview
Another big game coming up on Saturday is Manchester City v Southampton. This game is a big game for Manchester City, as they will want to keep the pressure on both of the teams above them who will kick off at the closing of this fixture.
Manchester City will go into this game feeling as if they can get all three points. Just last week star striker Sergio Aguero returned, which will give the whole team a boost going into this tie. However, not all is good, first choice goalkeeper Joe Hart picked up an injury in Manchester City’s midweek defeat to Juventus in the Champions League, making him a huge doubt for the visit of Southampton.
Manchester City will not let this worry them and will go into the game still feeling as if they can win all three points. Southampton will go into the fixture of the back of a defeat to Stoke City. This will not fill Ronald Koeman’s side with a lot of confidence, but he will get his team together and try to repeat the historic victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge earlier in the season.
A huge loss for Southampton is first choice striker Graziano Pelle. He picked up his fifth yellow card of the season in the defeat to Stoke last weekend. Striker Shane Long is expected to take the lead from the top for the South Coast club which will give the Manchester City defence something else to think about. Shane long brings a lot of pace and power to the side which could prove pivotal for Southampton in this fixture.
Tottenham vs Chelsea predictions
The early kick off on Sunday sees Tottenham welcome Chelsea to White Hart Lane. Tottenham have had an impressive start to the season. As it stands they are fifth in the Premier League. A player that has played a huge part in this run is Harry Kane.
He had a shaky start not scoring in the first few games. However, now he has found his form, it is hard to see it coming to an end. He has scored in his last five matches, if he can score in this game he could soon be another player to catch up with the record Jamie Vardy is close to beating.
Chelsea have had a very poor campaign to date. However, form has started to change recently, they got a 1-0 win last weekend at home to Norwich, before their 3-0 victory away in the Champions League on Tuesday evening.
This could be a change in their season that they have been looking for, for so long. Last year’s play of the year, Eden Hazard, has recently started to find his feet this campaign and that could be the reason that Chelsea are starting to perform better, and picking up more points.
A win for Tottenham could take them into the top four, which is where they will want to be. Chelsea desperately need another win in the premier League to get themselves back on track and climbing back up the ranks this season.
Liverpool vs Swansea City tips
The later kick off on Sunday sees Liverpool host Swansea City at 16:15. Liverpool currently sit 9th in the Premier League. For a club like them, they will be looking to secure a European place come the end of the season.
The manager Jurgen Klopp has brought a more attacking style of play to the Merseyside club and it seems to be working. But on some occasions it will not work, and they will get punished for pushing their opponents to high up the pitch. This looks like a game that Liverpool should be getting all three points of, because at this moment in time, Swansea are really struggling to pick up points.
As just mentioned, Swansea are currently in a very difficult situation. And one they need to get out of quickly. If they fail to start picking up results, they could see their manager Garry Monk being sacked from the club. It all started very well for the Welsh club. They were flying high at the top of the table and the manager got manager of the month in the first month of the season.
It seems to have all gone downhill for them now, only picking up a point to Bournemouth at home last time out proves their dip in form. Only six points from their last nine matches has really cost them and they will need to find their form again if they are to escape being in a relegation battle towards the end of the season. Both teams will want the three points in this game for different reasons, so it should set up for an entertaining game.
