The England international had been heavily linked with a move to the Merseyside club for the last couple of months, after his City contract was due to expire at the end of this month.
The deal between two clubs has now been materialised, subject to a medical, and the 29-year-old versatile will make a move to Anfield officially when the transfer window re-opens on July 1st.
He played for Newcastle, Leeds and Aston Villa – but struggled for a regular during his five years tenure at the Etihad, thought he has had a big role in the club’s achievements.
Milner has made 32 league appearances for the Citizens this season and helped the club in chasing a top two place in league table.
The news brings positivity among many Liverpool fans on Twitter, here are some of the best.
Happy with the Milner signing, player who always gives 100% and can play in a lot of positions. A Dirk Kuyt type?

That’s good news. Milner is a great signing. Just hoping he’s not THE signing.

Make no mistake, James Milner is a very big signing for us. Man City wanted to keep him and were prepared to pay huge amounts. He chose us.

Wenger will be devastated. Milner knew he’d never get the chance to work with someone of Brendan’s capabilities again.

Milner is perfect signing for #LFC following Steven Gerrard’s departure. Far from like-for-like but has experience sorely lacking at Anfield

Couldnt be happier with the addition of James Milner We will be redifining the phrase ‘Tiki-taka’ when him Allen and Henderson get going.

Milner is class, your footballing knowledge is extremely limited if you disagree..

As said before, Milner move was purely for footballing reasons. Big wrench for him to leave City. Another one off the homegrown list…
