Rooney confident World Cup victory

England and Manchester United talisman Wayne Rooney believes that his team could win the World Cup this year.

The 28-year-old striker is confident to win the competition this summer – with nations such as Germany, Spain and hosts Brazil are among the favourites to lift the iconic trophy.

Critics have suggested that the Three Lions may struggle in their group matches against Italy, Uruguay and Costa Rica.

But Rooney says he and the squad are confident that England can win the World Cup.

“I think we can. We have to believe, even if no-one else will.” Rooney is quoted by the London Evening Standard.

England manager Roy Hodgson is yet to announce his final 23-man squad for the world cup.
