Spurs fight-back to overcome Crystal Palace
Tottenham Hotspur has bounced back at Selhurst Park to beat Crystal Palace 3-1 – keeping their Premier League title hopes alive this season.
The Spurs trailed in the first half through Jan Vertonghen’s own goal, but Harry Kane lift-up his side back on the track before Dele Alli and Nacer Chadli secured a pair of stunning goals to earn all three points in dramatic fashion.
Tottenham are now five points ahead of Manchester United in fourth spot, just two points behind the Gunners in the third position.
Crystal Palace managed to break the deadlock by scoring – and end their five-game goalless run at Selhurst Park on Saturday – through Vertonghen’s unfortunate own goal in 30th minute.
The Eagles took the lead on the first half, claimed their first Premier League goal for the year. However, the hosts had no response in the finals minutes, ensuring that the Lillywhites remain just five points off the league topper and intact in spot for a Champions League berth next season.
Following this game, the home side are struggling for a win in their last six league outings, although they did manage to end their drought – though it was struck by the opponent’s Vertonghen.
Meanwhile, Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew and his men are in desperate need of a reliable striker who can score goals and would able to lift their Premier League hopes
“We’re looking to bring a player in and there’s no doubt about that,” Pardew said. “The boys would like to see someone else enter the dressing room.”
The Eagles’ defeat sees them drop to 11th position in the league table, having won four home games out of 12 at Selhurst Park this season.
