However, the Gunner’s number ’20’ will see his contract expire in June 2016 along with club’s team-mates Mikel Arteta and Tomas Rosicky.
Both Arteta and Rosicky have been struggling with injuries as a result sidelines for a majority of the season, and the duo is unlikely to recover full fitness soon, manager Arsene Wenger has put highly-rated midfielder on top of his January target list.
With the January transfer window edging closer, the Gunners’ number one target seems to be Victor Wanyama of Southampton, but the north Londoners are currently reluctant to pay £20million asking price for the 24-year-old Kenyan playmaker.
Therefore, Flamini is likely to remain with the Gunners until the recovery of Francis Coquelin, and when he departs, Wenger is likely to delve into the summer transfer market to strengthen his squad.
